Our expert consultants are currently providing project management and capacity support to Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD). TPMA will support DWD’s policy review and drafting needs by creating a policy matrix and calendar, researching and developing policies, and responding to policy inquiries. For organizational design strategy development and process mapping, we are conducting a comprehensive analysis and drafting recommendations for optimization and improvement. In addition, TPMA will be supporting DWD’s grant management activities and providing general grant support.
Over 30 years ago, our CEO Tom Miller founded Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA) to continue the work he did as a former Commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development. His goal was to create a comprehensive consulting firm that would bring together workforce development, economic development, and education to bring positive change to communities through partnerships and data-informed solutions.
To date, TPMA has worked under contract with numerous state agencies in Indiana and in other states to assist in creating efficient and effective structures and strategies that clarify roles and relationships, both among state agencies and in relationship of state agencies to local and regional entities. In recent months, TPMA has engaged with Indiana state leaders in workforce, education, and economic development to create a COVID-19 Rapid Recovery Plan that is now being implemented. The implementation of the plan, in addressing both the challenges and opportunities brought about by the pandemic, created an inflection point for the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) to re-evaluate its staff structure within the Workforce Operations Division to maximize the impact for customers of the system. It also resulted in a need for additional assistance in project managing several activities associated with implementation of initiatives resulting from the Rapid Recovery Plan.
