Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA), a growing national research and evaluation, economic development, and workforce development consulting firm, is seeking a team-oriented, driven professional to serve as a Senior Project Consultant in the area of community engagement as part of the Evaluation Team. The Senior Project Consultant provides a range of support and leadership to the team including, but not limited to: project leadership/management, strategic planning, community engagement, research and analysis, resource development, client relationship management, report writing and preparation, and business development.
The ideal candidate will exercise considerable independent judgment to design, analyze, and complete projects and proposals. The Senior Project Consultant will be part of TPMA’s Evaluation Team and will have the opportunity for ongoing knowledge development and growth.

Thomas P. Miller & Associates is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a satellite office in Youngstown, Ohio. This position will be Indianapolis-based; please indicate willingness to relocate to Indianapolis in cover letter. In-state and out-of-state travel is required, estimated at 15-25%.

Education and Experience

  • Must possess at least 3-5 years of professional experience in a role that requires community/stakeholder outreach and engagement

  • Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in a field such as social science, nonprofit management, public affairs, political science or related; Master’s degree preferred 

  • Previous program/project management or consulting experience strongly preferred

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages complex, multi-faceted projects and adapts project plans as needed

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert in one or more areas, demonstrates intermediate content knowledge regarding stakeholder engagement and other practice area subjects

  • Facilitates focus groups, interviews, town halls, and strategy sessions
    Leads project teams to ensure high-quality and high-value services are provided to clients

  • Writes high quality in-depth reports

  • Demonstrates practice area leadership by designing solutions and executing team initiatives

  • Strategizes and executes business development activities including proposal management and representing the firm in interviews and client presentations

  • Builds relationships with clients and stakeholders, leading to references and add-on work

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities – exceptional time management skills

  • Excellent project management skills – including developing and implementing timelines and project plans, overseeing deliverables, and driving implementation in a customer-oriented environment

  • Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to high-quality work

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – including presentation, communication, facilitation, mediation, and teamwork

  • Excellent writing skills, including audience appropriate writing in a variety of formats such as emails, press releases, newsletter blurbs, white papers, and large scale reports

  • Strong intuition and judgement

  • Introductory understanding of qualitative research, quantitative research, and/or evaluation

  • Enthusiastic, willing to learn quickly, and displays a fervent sense of initiative 

  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

Salary and Benefits

Salary for this position is $55,000-$65,000 based on experience of the candidate.
