SENIOR CONSULTANT
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT 

(Indianapolis, IN)

As we grow our work and our reach TPMA seeks a team-oriented, senior-level professional that will assist with the coordination of business development efforts for TPMA and with existing clients and lead contractors.


Candidates should have experience in the consulting industry, preferably securing contracts through a combination of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and relationship-based business development. They should bring in knowledge and insights on effective proposal writing process, innovative approaches to targeting new markets, and coordinating lead and subcontractor approaches to garnering new business. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, writing, and time management skills and will be highly self-motivated. 


Position will be based in Indianapolis, Indiana; however, alternative arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Please indicate willingness to relocate in cover letter.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred and 2-3 years of experience in business development in the consulting industry OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience.

  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, or related field.

  • Experience in business development (prospect research, proposal writing, and securing contracts).

  • Experience working with and securing federal, state, and local contracts is preferred. 

  • Knowledge and experience with strategic planning methodologies and implementation.

  • Knowledge and experience working with various types of 501 (c) organizations.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage business development relationships with partner firms and prospective leads to secure new      contracts.

  • Research and disseminate information on business development opportunities as announced.

  • Organize and manage proposal-writing processes amongst multiple team members and organizations. 

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in education, economic development, and workforce development 

  • Use interpersonal skills to influence business decisions at all levels of the organization.

  • Work collaboratively with team members across practice areas.

  • Continually demonstrate ability to multitask and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.

  • Use advanced and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools.

  • Work independently to support business development goals and TPMA core values.

Skills and Abilities

  • Efficient management skills to be applied in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to initiate and engage in discussions with senior-level decision makers across the United States.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities. 

  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

  • Successfully adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Effectively manage internal and client expectations and demands.

  • Efficient prioritization of proposals and tasks. 

  • Effectively work on teams and interact with senior- and junior-level staff.

Travel

In-state and out-of-state travel is required and estimated at 10-20%.

 

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is commensurate with experience plus a performance incentive of up to 10% of base salary based on over all company profitability. Premium at employee only coverage level fully employer paid for medical, dental and vision coverage.
