PROJECT ASSOCIATE - EVALUATION

(Indianapolis, IN)

Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA), a growing national research and evaluation, economic development, and workforce development consulting firm is seeking an enthusiastic and engaged, team-oriented professional to serve as a Project Associate on the Evaluation team. The Evaluation practice area works in partnership with organizations and agencies across the United States to measure the progress, fidelity, outcomes, and impacts of their programs. The Project Associate will provide support for all key elements of evaluation work such as interviews, focus groups, data collection technical assistance, desktop research, community benchmarking, survey design and analysis, reporting, and statistical analysis.

The ideal candidate will understand basic qualitative and quantitative research methods, have excellent writing and communication skills, and be able to adapt to the fast-paced applied research setting. He/She/They will also be continuously open to learning new things, will take a team-oriented approach to work, and will be comfortable taking initiative in an ever-changing environment. The Project Associate will have the opportunity for ongoing knowledge development and growth.

Thomas P. Miller & Associates is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a satellite office in Youngstown, Ohio. This position will be Indianapolis-based; please indicate willingness to relocate to Indianapolis in cover letter. In-state and out-of-state travel is required, estimated at 15-25%.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in any related field, including, but not limited to: Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Nonprofit Management, Political Science, Public Affairs/Management

  • Preferred 1-3 years of experience in either research lab participation, applied data research, group facilitation, and/or evaluation.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working on multiple projects simultaneously to support on-time and in-budget project completion

  • Developing and assisting with team qualifications, methodologies, scopes of work, and budgets for project proposals

  • Conducting and taking detailed notes for qualitative research through interviews and focus groups

  • Assisting with large multi-system data sets

  • Assisting with writing about findings and recommendations based on data analysis

  • Cleaning and analyzing survey and program data

  • Drafting reports

  • Research and literature review

  • Background research on a variety of topics, as needed

  • Contributing to the quality and content of client deliverables

  • Tracking and holding to deadlines

  • Helping maintain client relationships

Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Evaluation

  • Statistics

  • Data analysis

  • Writing for various audiences

  • Focus group, community forum, or interview facilitation

  • Qualitative or quantitative research

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Client-service oriented attitude

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate data

  • Attention to detail and dedication to high-quality work

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities – exceptional time management skills

  • Efficient project and time management skills

  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly

  • Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills

  • Enthusiastic, and displays a fervent sense of initiative

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

Preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience in program evaluation

  • Experience with the field of Workforce Development or  Education

Salary and Benefits

Salary for this position is $35,000 - $42,500 depending on experience of the candidate.
