Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA), a national research and evaluation, economic development, and workforce development consulting firm, is seeking a team-oriented, driven professional to serve as a Project Consultant for the Workforce Team in its Youngstown, Ohio location. The Project Consultant must be experienced in business and industry training needs. An extensive first assignment is related to education and workforce development in advanced manufacturing.

Education and Experience

  • Must possess 3-5 years of combined professional experience working with workforce development, business and industry, education, government, and non-profit organizations.  

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree

  • Experience with large grants via state and federal levels as well as budgeting state and federal education funding preferred

  • Experience working in collaboration within the K-12 and post-secondary environment with administration and education staff to execute large scale projects to meet objectives preferred

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages projects and tasks to ensure on-time/in-budget project completion

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of funding source compliance in relation to project deliverables

  • Leads drafting of written reports/deliverables and preparation of presentations

  • Models and analyzes quantitative and qualitative data

  • Actively participates in business development processes, including review and interpretation of RFP and non-RFP opportunities

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients and business leaders

  • Engages in interviews and focus groups

  • Leads presentations to varied stakeholders and partners

  • Travels within U.S. when required

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent project management skills applied in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment

  • Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities (time management)

  • Collaborate with regional manufacturers to coordinate Workforce Development projects.

  • Work with secondary administrators, professors, high school principals, educators and guidance counselors in the deployment of projects into career pathways and curricula offerings based on regional workforce needs

  • Facilitate technology integration, information, communication and training plans for students

  • Coordinate implementation plans to engage corporate partners with educators and students

  • Collect and organize data reports and surveys from a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Assists in planning events and other engagement activities involving students, educators and manufacturer partners

  • Develop strategies to build students’ and parents’ awareness of manufacturing career opportunities

  • Confident in executing presentations before large groups across varied stakeholders

  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
