TPMA has an extensive background in energy and green-related projects. Current and recently completed projects include:

Current and Ongoing

  • Assisting the State of Indiana in its strategy for pursuing the DOL State Energy Sector Partnership Grant
  • Providing regional planning technical assistance, competency framework, and green sector partnership development to the Quad-States Regional Transformation that operates in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and Arizona
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of Recovery Act grant Smart Grid Demonstrations for the Wabash Valley Power Association, a generation and transmission cooperative
  • Developing a "Growing a Regional Energy Employment Network (GREEN)" initiative for the nine county Grow Southwest Indiana Workforce Board as part of our work as the Regional Operator

2009

  • Provided technical federal grant review guidance and preparation and submission assistance to Remy International's proposal to the US Department of Energy in response to the Recovery Act funding opportunity Electric Drive Vehicle and Component Initiative. As a result of the proposal submission, Remy was awarded $60.2 million in federal grant money. For the full story, click here.
  • Prepared an "energy cluster analysis" for the South Carolina Santee-Lynches Council of Governments as a part of a cluster study focused on metals manufacturing, transportation distribution and logistics, and energy

2008

  • Provided planning, asset mapping, and start-up assistance to the Energy Systems Network in Indiana, a statewide clean technology initiative focused on bringing energy breakthroughs to the market - leveraging Indiana's strong manufacturing sector, R&D capabilities, and heritage of engineering advanced power systems (see http://www.cincorp.com/energysystemsnetwork/)
  • Worked with the Center for Coal Technology Research at Purdue University on various projects including a feasibility analysis for a coal to liquid fuels facility in Southern Indiana

2007

  • Assisted the Economic Development Partnership of South Carolina, based in Aiken, to identify and pursue funding opportunities for its Center for Hydrogen Research
    (CHR),  a 60,000 square foot research facility focused on hydrogen-based technologies including fuel cell vehicles

2006

  • Assessed the economic and technical feasibility of converting local food processor and farming wastes to value added bi-products within Clinton County, IN

  • While at the Hudson Institute, Jim Wheeler led and participated in a wide range of energy related, both in the US and for foreign clients. Selected projects include:
